History Presentations

Currently Logan has about 10 different presentations with more being added all the time.    Look under the History Presentation tab for the updated current list of characters.  If there is a character or time era that you would like to see feel free to reach out to us.

The goal of any presentation is three fold:

  1. To give you an understanding of the history of that place and time.  These are the stories that shaped our country.  We can better understand who and where we are by understanding where we came from.
  2. To make history and that particular era “come alive”.  We desire to give you the motivation to learn more thus presentations will often leave a few questions unanswered.
  3. To inspire you in your walk with Christ Jesus.  It is our hope that hearing the stories of saints who have gone on before us, their struggles, their victories, will inspire you in your own walk.

The duration of presentations vary based on the particular story and the needs of the event but in general presentations are about 45 minutes to a hour long.   All presentations are appropriate for all ages and we try to include elements for all ages and learning styles.  Logan’s dynamic story-telling has been know to hold audiences of all ages enthralled as he utilized words, volume changes, props, and movement to capture an audiences attention and bring them into the story.

This question is answered with one simple word: Reading.  Logan is a prolific reader and is able to retain a large amount of what he has read.  That fact, combine with the fact that he has been doing this for well over 20 years, means that he is pulling from a great depth of knowledge.  The amount of study necessary to put together a presentation is quite large.  Every last detail of what he is wearing on stage is researched to be as accurate as possible.  The elements of what are included within the story must also be researched and sorted through.  It is impossible to reduce a person’s life to a 45 minute presentation and include everything therefore large portions must be omitted for the sake of a concentric story.  Decided what should be told requires the storyteller to be familiar with what could be told.  Logan’s scripts function as a road map to keep him on track resulting in a natural flow as the story is told.

Family Folk Dancing

Folk dancing requires numbers.  The smaller the group, the harder it is on the caller.  Logan has called dances for as few as 10 but ideally there should be at least 30 dancers.   On the other end of the spectrum, Logan has called for groups number as high as 500.

As much space as possible with a flat surface.  This is ideal but it is possible to do dances in all kinds of spaces on all surfaces.  As dance requires people to be able to move around consider that the dance area should be able to accomidate that.  The surface of the dance floor does not need to be a polished wood floor.   As long as it is safe to walk on, it will suffice for a dance.  Logan has taught dances in fields, horse corrals, and pastures as well within churches, driveways and ballrooms.  This was the dances our forefathers danced in their mansions yet is also what pioneers danced around their campfires.

Logan teaches family folk dance.  It was designed as a social dance for all ages and that still holds true even today.  Logan adjusts his teaching and the dances he selects based on the particular group before him.  Whether teaching a group of teens, a young adults group, a father/daughter dance or if there are grandparents dancing with their grandchildren everyone can participate and have a great time.  As it is social dancing, Logan will encourage dancers to include other in their sets throughout the event to insure all have a great time.  When partnered with someone older, We have even seen three year olds enjoying this type of dance.

Logan uses all types and styles of music during his dances.  His music selection is based on the theme of the event.  In general it is a combination of old Irish and folk tunes.  It can vary from classical tunes to modern pop but it will always be God honoring and family appropriate.
